Polish nitrogen fertilizer company Zaklady Azotowe Pulawy S.A.
has launched production and sales of AdBlue. The company has
identified Germany, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands and Italy
as key markets, but because of transportation costs intends to
focus initially only on the domestic market, where it estimates
consumption at a potential 120,000 tonnes per year by 2012.
Production capacity is currently set at 33,000 tpy, but daily
output can be expanded to a daily maximum of 1,600 tonnes (520,000
tpy). Pulawy's diversification into AdBlue production is part of a
strategy to focus on more highly processed products with "a smaller
share of natural gas in their overall cost breakdown."
