At the Hanover IAA 62nd International Motor show in September,
an AdBlue license holders meeting was hosted by the VDA with a
number of significant outcomes. Of note, it was announced that the
fourth and final section of the AUS32 ISO standard is nearly
complete. ISO 22241-4 outlines requirements for the refilling
interface to deliver AdBlue to vehicles. Due to the corrosive
nature of AdBlue, this standard requires that misfillings of AdBlue
into diesel tanks be avoided by using specific filling materials
and systems, such as the magnetic coupling device in the Elaflex
nozzle.
Another significant conclusion of the Hanover meeting was a
decision to develop a worldwide quality control system by regularly
auditing licensees (of which there are currently 44). The VDA also
recognised that multiple participants asked in the meeting for
random quality tests of AdBlue on the road in trucks.
