Sweden considers emissions compliance test for Euro IV & V vehicles

The Swedish Road Administration to evaluating a system for periodic inspection of Euro IV and V commercial vehicles, both EGR and SCR, to ensure emissions compliance. There have been concerns that some drivers are operating SCR vehicles without using AdBlue. There is a particular focus on vehicles registered before October 2007 which do not have NOx Control systems installed and can therefore be operated without any AdBlue. There is also a concern that vehicles with NOx Control could be operated above the emissions standard limit values for NOx but below the NOx Control inducement thresholds, possibly by using diluted urea solution or damaged emissions control equipment.

This process will be followed keenly by other European authorities since it is the first detailed public study of periodic and roadside inspection of Euro IV and V vehicles to ensure compliance to emissions legislation.
