The third instalment of the new AdBlue ISO was completed in February 2008 and outlines the recommendations and requirements for handling, transportation and storage of AdBlue. ISO 22241-3 includes guidance on suitable materials for the transport and storage of AdBlue, listing a series of plastics and stainless steal alloys. It also has a section that recommends shelf-life be directly related to storage temperature. It recommends that if AdBlue is stored at 10-25°C it has a shelf-life of 36 months. The document also requires that a robust quality assurance and audit system is in place at all stages of production, delivery and storage to ensure that the AdBlue is within the specifications outlined in ISO 22241-1.
