In November 2008, Mitsui Mining and Smelting (MMS) revealed that it has formed an important partnership with Gentech International Ltd, a UK based company. The new partnership will focus on the manufacture and marketing of in-tank urea level and quality sensor systems for use in SCR equipped heavy-duty diesel vehicles. The arrangement will see MMS supply its Senfoa® urea quality sensor for incorporation into Gentech's integrated fluid level sensor. The resulting integrated sensor will detect urea concentration, as well as tank level, serving a number of essential functions: improving safety, reducing non-compliance and preventing accidental mis-use. It is hoped that first samples of the technology will be ready in January 2009.
