Daimler announces SCR premium

Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) has announced that its heaviest SCR equipped trucks will carry a premium of US$9000 per vehicle. The premium will apply to trucks using the DD13, DD15 and DD16 engines from its Detroit Diesel subsidiary, and will cover the cost of the emissions reduction technologies needed to meet the EPA's 2010 requirements. Customers requiring Cummins engines will pay a premium of US$6,700 or US$7,300 for the ISB6.7 and ISC8.3 respectively.

Mark Lampert, Senior Vice President of sales for DTNA has said that both BlueTec and Cummins technologies "deliver fuel savings and lifecycle improvements to shape the future of transportation", and will return fuel economy to pre-2007 levels.
