Transport for London has extended its Greener Vehicle Discount to Euro V certified cars which produce less than 100g of CO2/km, allowing drivers in England's capital to save more than £2,500 a year.
The radical shake up follows a public consultation which saw 13,000 people take part. London Mayor Boris Johnson said: "It is essential that the Congestion Charge is made fairer and more effective, but also that it continues to do what it says on the tin and remains a deterrent to all but essential journeys into the heart of the Capital."
Models that will benefit from the exception include the Toyota Auris, Toyota Prius, Volkswagen Polo, Skoda Fabia Greenline and the Ford Fiesta
