VDA launches AdBlue Audit programme

The VDA's Quality Management Centre began its AdBlue audit programme in October with two companies currently undertaking testing. The suppliers are based in Poland and Germany and are in the latter stages of the programme, according to Hartmut Ide who is in charge of the scheme. It aims to cut down the use of non-ISO standard products which often undercut legitimate suppliers and endanger truck owners' warrantees. This problem is particularly prevalent in the Balkan region and across the UK. It is now compulsory for all companies which want to start using the AdBlue trademark to go through the scheme and Ide hopes the existing license holders will take part because of the commercial advantage brought from displaying the approved logo. The QMC has eight to 10 audits planned for spring, and will look into further educational programmes in Q3 2010.
