Laboratory tests have show Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) and Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) technology used in Euro IV and V truck models can be adapted to meet more stringent emissions standards set out in Euro VI.
Par Gabrielsson, Principle Research Engineer at Haldor Topsoe, told delegates at Integer's Diesel Emissions Conference that the company's testing had shown a combination of Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR), Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) and particulate filters already in use would be sufficient to meet the new standard.
Techniques used to improve the performance of the system include placing the SCR unit next the engine to increase the temperature and facilitate more efficient dosing of AdBlue.
