Automotive equipment supplier Faurecia has bought a 21.2% stake in Danish clean-tech company Amminex for €19.6 million cash.
Amminex has developed an alternative ammonia delivery system for diesel Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems on passenger cars and commercial vehicles. The Ammonia Storage and Delivery System (ASDS) stores ammonia as a metal chloride ammine in a non-pressurized container and can be used instead of AdBlue/Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF).
Faurecia said in a statement that the company is confident this technology will "offer significant advantages to OEMs when meeting Euro VI and future Euro VII emissions regulations for diesel NOx reduction".
Navistar signed a development agreement and took a 20% stake in Amminex in December 2009.
