China's delayed implementation of China Phase IV emissions legislation will lead to an annual AdBlue consumption of between 3.8 and 6.8 billion litres by 2017, according to market analyst Integer Research.
Juliane Läng, Emissions Control Analyst at Integer, told FindAdBlue.com: "Discussions
between the major Chinese OEMs and engine manufacturers confirmed
once again that Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) was the
technology of choice for Chinese heavy-duty vehicle manufacturers
to achieve NOx emission reductions set out in the new
legislation."
Integer's latest Focus Report: China
Diesel Emissions & AdBlue Market Study 2011 provides
projections of SCR vehicle sales and detailed analysis of
legislation, fuel quality and the AdBlue supply chain.
Speaking at Integer's Diesel
Emissions Conference and AdBlue Forum in Beijing Tong Dehui,
Vice President & Research Centre Director for diesel engine
manufacturer Wechai Power, said: "The current situation
for Chinese OEMs is that SCR technology is available and ready to
be put to use, but OEMs are still awaiting the implementation of
China IV emission standards for heavy-duty vehicles."
The government has agreed the delay of the implementation
date for China IV to January 2012, but sceptics expect further
delays in implementation due to ongoing problems with supply of
low-sulfur diesel, according to Läng.
