Mercedes-Benz has launched a new range of Euro VI compliant trucks and buses under the brand name "Blue Efficiency Power".
The range includes a cooled Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR)
system, particulate filter and its BlueTec Selective Catalytic
Reduction (SCR). The basic emissions reduction platform is already
used in Daimler's North America heavy-duty trucks and has been
adjusted to suit European emissions regulation.
A Mercedes-Benz spokesperson said: "The first member of the new
engine generation to be in the spotlight is the Mercedes-Benz OM
471, with its 12.8L displacement. The OM 471 is the first engine in
its class to have received type approval and already be available
with the future Euro VI emission standard, so marking the start of
a new era a full two years before Euro VI becomes law."
The new Mercedes-Benz OM 471 will be available in various output
and torque versions, ranging from 310 kW to 375 kW and from 2100 to
2500 Nm.
