Scania has introduced its new Euro-VI-compliant 13-litre engine.
Jonas Hofstedt, Senior Vice President Powertrain Development at Scania, said: "We have combined all the new technologies that Scania has developed in recent years: Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR), variable turbo geometry, common-rail high-pressure fuel injection, Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) and particulate filtering. Add to that our own engine and exhaust management technology, which has now been integrated into one system."
The new engines will achieve a similar fuel economy to its current range, according to Hofstedt.
Euro VI emissions standards will become mandatory for new models on the 31 December 2012 and one year later for all vehicles sold.
