Mitsui Chemicals Inc. has revealed, in October 2008, that it is planning a 50 per cent increase in the production of AdBlue. Mitsui has stated that it intends to install new equipment at its subsidiary Hokkaido Mitsui Chemicals Company to increase manufacturing capacity to 30 million litres of AdBlue annually. Mitsui Chemicals currently produces urea at three plants in Japan which have a total AdBlue annual production capacity of 60 million litres. With the addition of the Hokkaido plant, Mitsui are hoping to push combined annual capacity up to 90 million litres of AdBlue by the end of March 2009.
