Hino Trucks takes the next step in SCR technology

by Laura Cross on 14/09/2009, 10:01 AM

Hino Trucks has announced the surcharge on vehicles using SCR to meet the 2010 US emission standards. Customers will expect to pay $6,700 more per vehicle - when compared to 2009 vehicles -  as a result of the costs incurred by using SCR as a means of reducing NOx emissions. The company has seen excellent results in customer field test units, and Glenn Ellis, Vice President of Market and Dealer Operations for Hino Trucks voiced his confidence in the use of SCR to lower emissions, stating, "The ability to reduce emissions to near-zero levels while improving fuel economy distinguishes SCR as the only proven emissions control technology that is as good for business, as it is for the environment". Diesel Exhaust Fluid will be available from all 176 of Hino's dealers when the standards come into effect in 2010.
